:Under limited supervision from the Maintenance System Lab Support Services Supervisor and leadership of the PMC Lead, personally performs tasks associated with glass wash and related lab support activities. Supervision received/exercised:Receives immediate technical direction from Lab Support Services Supervisor, PMC lead and administrative direction from the Pacific Maintenance Site Manager’
Typical Duties 1. Performs work per standard operating procedures, work instructions and industry practices. 2. Operates relevant equipment in the execution of the job responsibilities. 3. Maintains records and produces various reports 4. Wash and dry glass and plastic ware such as pipettes, Petri dishes, and test tubes. 5. Collect the dirty items from laboratory stations, and stock clean inventory where needed. 6. Keep the glass washing facility clean and swept, according to standard guidelines. 7. Make sure no unwanted organisms are introduced to elements within an experiment, use autoclaves to sterilize glassware and other items. 8. May also test cleaned glassware for sterility. 9. Keep records of the equipment that is used and cleaned, generally on a computer database.10. May also receive samples to be assayed, prepare samples for study, maintain and repair equipment, perform instrument set up and calibration, maintain quality control, keep records, guide other lab workers, and ensure lab cleanliness.11. Duties may include keeping inventory and ensuring that needed supplies are ordered. 12. Laboratory Support Worker performs routine upkeep of glass-washing equipment and is assigned other related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications Knowledge of. common safety procedures for working with equipment and biohazard waste, Knowledge of cGMPs and other mandatory regulations governing the glass wash operation, Equipment Maintenance – Performing routine maintenance on equipment and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed, Knowledge of laboratory glassware, lab equipment and instruments,Hazard & chemical handling training.
Skills to: 1. Read and understand materials such as safety manuals, operating manuals, equipment manuals, SOPs, Written instructions.2. Communicate effectively and courteously with supervisors, co-workers and the public.3. Follow written and oral instructions.4. Perform the physical labor throughout the workday, involving standing for extended periods of time, stooping, walking, pushing carts.5. Posses basic computer skills6. Problem Sensitivity – The ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem.7. Information Ordering – The ability to arrange things or actions in a certain order or pattern according to a specific rule or set of rules (e.g., patterns of numbers, letters, words, pictures, mathematical operations).8. Trunk Strength – The ability to use your abdominal and lower back muscles to support part of the body repeatedly or continuously over time without ‘giving out’ or fatiguing.9. Manual Dexterity – The ability to quickly move your hand, your hand together with your arm, or your two hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects.10. Mechanical – Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
Education and Experience:1. Any combination of training and or experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities would be qualifying. A typical way to do this might be;High school graduation or GED equivalent and specialized training resulting in a certificate demonstrating skills in the lab support field.
